E-Learning Pathology and pharmacology
The course allows you to learn about some of the most common diseases in society (the folk diseases) and diseases of particular relevance to practitioners. The course consists of 100 hours of study and is offered as E-learning, where the student reads according to an indicative plan for each topic. In parallel, personal assistance from the teacher is offered via AM Academy Intranet and an e-learning forum is held once a month where the teacher offers help at AM Academy.
The content of the topics will most often be completely new knowledge, but builds in particular on your knowledge of anatomy and physiology. The doctrine of the disease (the doctrine of diseases) is divided into topics according to which organ system the diseases belong to. Each subject ends with a short subject test, which must be completed and passed before the student can register for the exam. The test consists of 10-20 questions for the topic in question and is limited in time. The course ends with a written attendance exam which is held at AM Academy. It will consist of short answer questions and multiple choice questions.
After completing E-learning Pathology and pharmacology, we are expected to have taught you the following:
Describe what disease is, based on an understanding of the body’s homeostatic conditions.
Define the compensatory mechanisms of cells against shifts in equilibrium.
Define the terms used in pathology to describe each disease.
Describe disease processes caused by the immune system and inflammatory reactions.
Describe the etiology behind most cancers, as well as name the most important characteristics and the most common cancers.
Explain the impact of selected lifestyle factors on the body.
Define and describe folk diseases, as well as selected diseases in the individual organ systems, including;
The respiratory system, the circulation, the blood The skin, digestive system, kidneys and urinary tract
The nervous system, the hormonal system
Skills
- Recognize commonly occurring diseases in the population.
- Apply knowledge of lifestyle factors, and the preventive effects of disease development, to;
- Recognize and encourage appropriate lifestyle in third parties
- Recognize and inform about inappropriate lifestyles of third parties
- Apply the pathology as part of the assessment of the therapist’s place in a course of illness
E-Learning Forum
Every first Thursday of the month there will be the opportunity to spend an evening with other students and a teacher at AM Academy. We call this day “E-learning forum” and it should serve as an opportunity for sparring with the other students, as well as help with topics in anatomy and physiology. It is also possible to talk to other students about reading and note technology or spend the time reading or doing a topic test if you want peace of mind.
It is stressed that this is not necessarily a question of education and that it is not compulsory to attend. Students may need to inform the teacher about the topics they would like help with before the e-learning forum is held, so that the teacher can be best prepared and possibly prepare a proper teaching on a desired topic. In this case, the teacher informs about this in advance.
