Frequently asked questions

What is Musculupati®

Musculupati® is a specialized form of treatment and education that combines Western physiology and anatomy with principles from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The aim of musculupati is to create a holistic approach to treating the body, working on both physical and psychological aspects to achieve lasting results.

Main features of Musculupati®:

  1. Holistic treatment:

    • Focus on both the physical structures of the body (muscles, joints, connective tissue) and the connection between body and mind.
    • Integrates Western medical knowledge with TKM, such as meridian pathways and the five elements.
  2. Advanced techniques:

    • Treatment methods such as myofascial release, reflexology, joint release, pulsation, stretching and 5-point acupuncture.
    • Focus on functional neurology and the impact of the mind on the musculoskeletal system.
  3. The client/practitioner conversation:

    • The training emphasizes communication between therapist and client to understand and adapt treatment to the client’s needs.
  4. Theory and practice:

    • A strong theoretical understanding of anatomy and physiology is fundamental to the program.
    • Combining theory and practice ensures practitioners can understand and adapt treatment based on individual assessment.
  5. Protected title:

    • The title Musculupat® is protected and can only be used by practitioners who have completed the official training.
  6. Unique benefits:

    • Musculupati sets itself apart by providing a more comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to treatment than many other body therapy methods. The combined use of different techniques and theories often ensures faster and more effective results.

Can I get a job after graduation?

Answer. The job opportunities are very good.
AM Academy receives many inquiries from chiropractors, physiotherapists, health centers, etc. who are looking for therapists trained at AM Academy. We provide the service of relaying these postings on our internal pages.
We handpick the most talented students and offer them jobs in our own clinic TAKE A BREAK Spa.

Is there an age limit?
No, we haven’t. We’ve had students of all ages.
Are there any costs in addition to the training price?

For Step 1 and Step 2, everything is included in the price. For Step 3, you should expect an additional cost of approximately DKK 1,500 for the purchase of books.

Do you need any prior knowledge of massage?
Answer. It is not necessary to have prior knowledge of massage. Each class is made no larger than each person’s learning path can be prioritized by our competent instructors. In this way, we take responsibility for not losing anyone halfway through.
On the other hand, if you have prior knowledge, there is less homework for you.
Can I be exempt from VAT after graduation?

To become VAT exempt, you need 660 lessons across different subjects. You can achieve this (and a little more) if you take all 3 steps of our training ladder. This means that you cannot be VAT exempt if you only choose to take Step 1 or Step 1+2. This doesn’t mean you can’t start up as self-employed, you’ll just be liable for VAT on your treatments. However, if you want to work full-time as a therapist, we recommend that you become VAT exempt, as it is a great financial advantage.

You can also combine Step or training from another school with our VAT exemption modules. You can read more about this here: VAT exemption for alternative therapists.

Can I have a full-time job while doing my degree?

Yes, we do. Most of our students have full-time jobs on the side. You choose whether you want to start on a day shift, evening shift or weekend shift, so you can adapt the training to your everyday life.

Do AM Academy programs count as RAB hours?

Yes. All training hours count as RAB hours. This also applies to most of our courses – however, this can vary.

Which school should I choose?

We have no basis for assessing the teaching at other schools, but as many new schools start up in a short time and then close down again, leaving behind students who have paid but not received an education, we recommend choosing a school that has been around for many years, which AM Academy (former AM Massage School) has (since 1991). When you later apply for a job as a massage therapist, it is a great advantage to come from a recognized school with a good reputation. Normally, you should be wary if something is free, as you usually get what you pay for, therefore the price of the education here will be many thousands of dollars more expensive than with us, unfortunately nothing is free. You also have to remember that many schools market their way of teaching as the only right way, and that’s fine, but some also devalue the teaching at other schools, and we think you should refrain from that. One example is whether the practical teaching should be done by physiotherapists. Let’s be clear that a physiotherapist has a very good education and theoretical knowledge, but it is common knowledge that they hardly massage anymore, but are experts in training programs, rehabilitation and other techniques. That’s why here at the school we have skilled experienced masseurs to teach the massage part and physiotherapists to teach other techniques such as Functional Neurology and Sports Injuries.

Yes, we do. AM Academy has a doctor who has approved our material and is an examiner for our theoretical exams.

Why is our education slightly more expensive?
For us, a skilled practitioner is someone who knows their theory while also being skilled with their hands. This is achieved by learning about the body’s systems, how the muscles work and understanding the interconnectedness of the body. Being able to recognize problems, know the solution and create a course of treatment. All of this takes time to learn, which is why our training is longer than most. Over the 30 years we have existed, we have developed an education that includes these elements and are constantly optimizing to deliver the best masseurs to the industry. We continuously develop our teaching methods and materials, which requires resources.
– A longer education with top quality costs a little more.
