Become certified Musculupat® – a unique training with a holistic focus

Learn the best muscular treatment techniques and advanced massage therapy.

Focus on holistic treatment

As a Musculupat®, you work with the body from a holistic perspective, combining Western physiology and anatomy with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). You learn to understand and treat the body through the meridian pathways and the 5 elements. The program gives you in-depth insights and techniques in massage, reflexology, 5-point acupuncture, Cranio Sacral Therapy and much more. By combining different methods and approaches, you create better and longer-lasting results for your clients – something many experience for the first time after a Musculupat® treatment.

The program goes a step beyond traditional massage and body therapy by combining several techniques in the same treatment and working from meridians. You’ll also learn about Functional Neurology, Z-health theory and the importance of the mind-body connection. We teach the client/therapist conversation so that you will be able to provide a holistic treatment. A treatment is more than the treatment itself, communication is a big part of it. Communication and psychology are therefore also taught.

Practical and theoretical training

You’ll learn a wide range of treatment techniques such as myofascial release, joint release, pain understanding, pulsation and stretching. We emphasize that you understand the anatomy and physiology of the body at a solid professional level – a core competency that makes you a complete practitioner. Unlike many other body therapy programs, anatomy and physiology are a mandatory part of our curriculum, as we believe this is essential for understanding the body and thus helping our clients.

Ready to start up as a practitioner

You’ll also learn sales and customer service, how to start your own clinic and much more in the Clinic Guidance course. We make sure you are ready to go out and work as a therapist and/or start your own clinic. We help our students all the way.

A protected title

After completing the exams, you can proudly call yourself a Musculupat® – a protected title that can only be used by practitioners who have completed this training. We train you to become a competent, professional and holistic practitioner.

Take the next step in your career – become a Musculupat® and make a difference to your clients’ health and wellbeing.

Great team of teachers

At AM we have a large team of teachers and on the Musculupat® program you will meet many of them, as you will have 7 different teachers with different backgrounds during your education. You will meet masseurs, physiotherapists, body therapists, osteopaths and a doctor. Meeting a wide range of therapists, each with their own specialty, makes the program even more unique as similar programs typically only have 1-2 teachers.

RAB and VAT exemption

As a trained Musculupat®, you have 800 hours of training, which includes everything required to become VAT exempt and a Registered Alternative Practitioner (RAB).

Working from home

Becoming proficient in a craft requires practice, which is why it’s important that you practice what you learn at home. You can also choose a payment solution that includes an internship, which allows you to practice what you learn at school during your internship. In addition, the theoretical part must be studied. There are no major written assignments, but there are some online tests to take along the way.

Duration

The program is offered as an evening school or weekend class and takes approximately 2 years. After the first six months, it will already be possible to start working as a therapist with e.g. massage treatments.

(If you are already a trained massage therapist, you can start directly on a shortened course, which you can find HERE)

Read about the individual courses/modules:

Meridians and the 5 elements
The meridians and 5 elements are the basic theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This theory has been used in the East for hundreds of years and will give you a greater understanding of the body and a different way of looking at it.
Reflexology
Treatment of the musculoskeletal system with reflexology massage.
using special massage and pressure techniques primarily on the feet. Combine reflexology with your massage for optimal effect.
5-point acupuncture
To increase the effect of your treatment and/or as a treatment for stress. Also used to treat various addictions (this is the same as NADA)
Understanding joints - Pelvis and spine
Spinal joint release is taught, why we do it and how. Before treatment, we do various tests to determine if treatment is needed.
Understanding pain
Learn to understand different types of pain and learn more about approaches to treatment.
Pulsation
Physiurgical Massage

You’ll learn how to perform an in-depth, structured full-body massage and treat muscular problems. You’ll gain an understanding of how the body works together, how to treat it optimally and what factors influence how we feel physically.

Connective tissue massage

For fluid in the body, vein pumping massage is effective, giving you simple techniques to alleviate the client’s fluid problem.

Functional Neurology

Learn to understand the nervous system and the signals sent to the musculoskeletal system. Sometimes the wrong signals are sent, and you’ll learn through simple exercises how to correct these wrong signals in your clients.

Kinesio Taping

Learn to understand and use Kinesio taping, how to apply it for optimal effect.

Cupping and Gua Sha

You will learn how to use Cupping and Gua Cha, which are effective techniques for injury treatment and recovery.

Treatment techniques

You will learn to understand and perform several treatment techniques, such as pulsation and stretching, in close collaboration between client and therapist.

Anatomy and physiology
Blended learning
Anatomy and physiology is studied as blended learning, i.e. there is One day of training per topic, where it is briefly reviewed and there is an opportunity to ask questions, then you read the topic yourself and solve assignments. The teaching material includes illustrations, videos, questions and quizzes to help you understand the theory.
Pathology
Blended Learning

This teaching is also blended learning and takes place in the same way as anatomy/physiology. It is basic pathology.

Psychology
The lessons consist of health psychology perspectives on health and illness. What are the psychological reactions to stress, anxiety, pain and strain? We focus on patient, therapist and communication.
Functional neurology
Learn more about coordination, balance and endurance from the neuroanatomy (cerebellum). You will also learn about cerebellar functions and core muscle function, as well as rehabilitation for a malfunctioning cerebellum.
Myofascial Release

Myofascia is the connective tissue around muscles that can become tight and rigid.

Many people experience this tension as stiffness or as muscles that won’t relax and in some cases it causes a burning sensation.

The connective tissue and fascia is a very complex system. In the program, you will gain a basic understanding of what fascia is and how to approach treatment for fascia-related injuries.

There is a strong focus on the manual and many different treatment techniques will be introduced and applied to the whole body.

Stretching

In Stretching you will learn techniques from Stretch Massage Therapy (SMT). It combines stretching with massage, which provides an even better relaxation of the muscles than when done separately.

Motion analysis

The movements of the body are reviewed. How to look at a client’s movement patterns and from there plan our treatment of the given area. Functional testing of the major joints. Questioning technique for the client’s problem.

Trigger points

You’ll learn what trigger points are, the history behind them and how to work with them.

Ergonomics

Proper ergonomics are important to avoid injury when working as a massage therapist. We have a strong focus on our own body, so we can last a lifetime as a full-time practitioner.

Customer guide

What opportunities do I have after graduation? How do I start a business? How do I market myself? These questions and more are answered in this course. What does GPDR mean for a massage therapist and how to keep records.

Customer internship

The techniques learned and practiced in class on fellow students will now be tested on real clients who come to the school clinic. All treatments are performed with a supervisor present so that questions can be asked and evaluated afterwards. In addition, we talk about ethics, customer reception and sales.

Sports injuries

Fiber tears, shoulder, leg, knee and ankle pain are some of the most common sports injuries. There are two types of sports injuries: acute injuries and overuse injuries. You will learn how to understand injuries and treat them.

Sports acupuncture

Dry needling is a form of acupuncture where you insert needles into trigger points to optimize and speed up treatment.
