A Massage education with a focus on the whole body

In our program, you’ll learn all the basics about the body as a whole. As an AM Academy Certified Swedish Massage Therapist, you will be able to perform in-depth massage and treat the entire musculoskeletal system. You’ll gain a solid understanding of the body’s interconnectedness and learn how to customize your treatments to give your clients the best possible results.

We train you to treat a wide range of injuries and issues, including:

  • Sports injuries
  • Work-related injuries
  • Muscle tension and much more

Connective tissue, mind and posture

The training goes beyond the muscular. You will also learn to:

  • Working with connective tissue, which plays an important role in overall body health.
  • Understand the impact of the mind on the physical musculoskeletal system.
  • Master correct posture as a practitioner so you can last a lifetime on the job.

Unique courses and extraordinary skills

Our 165-hour program gives you access to subject areas that are often not included in traditional massage therapy programs. Among other things, you will be taught in:

  • Trigger points
  • Motion analysis
  • Basic Anatomy/Physiology

These skills make you a complete massage therapist who can work both independently and as an employee in the industry.

Anatomy & Physiology

Gain an understanding of the body’s basic systems and how they work, as well as knowledge of muscle structure and function. We review the muscles from surface anatomy, including muscle names, attachment and origin. We believe it’s important to have a theoretical background to build your treatments on.

Motion analysis
The movements of the body are reviewed. How to look at a client’s movement patterns and from there plan our treatment of the given area. Functional testing of the major joints. Questioning technique for the client’s problem.
Trigger points
You’ll learn what trigger points are, the history behind them and how to work with them.
Working postures
Proper ergonomics are important to avoid injury when working as a massage therapist. We have a strong focus on our own body, so we can last a lifetime as a full-time massage therapist.
Clinic guidance

What opportunities do I have after graduation? How do I start a business? How do I market myself? These questions and more are answered in this course. What does GPDR mean for a massage therapist and how to keep records.

Customer internship
The techniques learned and practiced in class on fellow students will now be tested on real clients who come to the school clinic. All treatments are performed with a supervisor present so that questions can be asked and evaluated afterwards. In addition, we talk about ethics, customer reception and sales.
Sports injuries

Fiber tears, shoulder, leg, knee and ankle pain are some of the most common sports injuries. There are two types of sports injuries: acute injuries and overuse injuries. You will learn how to understand injuries and treat them.

Swedish massage

You’ll learn how to perform an in-depth, structured full-body massage and treat muscular problems. You’ll gain an understanding of how the body works together, how to treat it optimally and what factors influence how we feel physically.

Facial massage
You’ll learn both a relaxing, de-stressing facial massage, as well as the many points that can release tension in the face and skull.
Connective tissue massage

Connective tissue has a great influence on the musculoskeletal system, which means that it is also important to treat it to get the most out of your treatment. You will learn both manual treatment and treatment with moving cupping.

Vein pump massage
For fluid in the body, vein pumping massage is effective, giving you simple techniques to alleviate the client’s fluid problem.
Stretching
Assisted stretching exercises you can do on your client, as well as ideas for exercises you can give them to take home.

Admission requirements

The Swedish Massage Therapist program is a user-paid practical program with no entry requirements.

We offer day or evening classes – Next class start:

Day shift

FYS0325D: START 25. March 2025 with classes every Tuesday 9.00 – 14.00 + 3 Saturdays (between 8.00 – 16.00) – END September 2025 (Summer vacation in July)

Evening classes

FYS0325AENG: Start April 2 , 2025 with classes every Wednesday from 17.00 – 22.00 + 3 Saturday classes (between 8.00-16.00) – END Oktober 2025 (Summer vacation in July)

Weekend Class

FYS1024W: START: May 10, 2025 with classes Saturday + Sunday every 2nd weekend from 9.00-15.00. (Every other time Saturday only) – END December 2025
